The Pound has had a great little run lately…

Yesterday saw it hit 21 month highs against the Euro and 7 month highs against the US Dollar.

It’s largely because a delay in Brexit now looks likely.

While hopes of ‘kicking the can down the road’ has brought relief to currency markets, it will prolong the uncertainty that hangs over the UK.

The fact is the economy is only limping along.

This week we’ve seen that business confidence is at its lowest level since the Brexit referendum. On top of that, consumer confidence remains deeply negative.

Here’s my point: the Pound’s recent strength should not be taken for granted.

OMG £1.00 tops £1.16 and climbing!

Something strange is happening…

Who should you believe in this market?

There is a lot of conflicting news swirling around right now.

Yesterday the Chancellor, Philip Hammond, sent Sterling higher after he said Parliament could vote on a revised Brexit deal as early as next week.

But later in the day government sources claimed Britain hasn’t actually secured any changes to the deal.

It’s a reminder of the old market saying “Follow the price, not the news”.
